Choosing the right tire for every season

Confused about all the tires available? We have you covered! Choosing the right tires for your vehicle, driving habits, and driving conditions is key to keeping you safe on the road.

All-Season Tires

All-season tires are designed to provide good performance for certain wet, dry, and lightly snow-covered roads. Since all-season tires work in a variety of conditions, they will not provide the same amount of traction and handling as performance tires, nor are they optimized to journey through deep snow or drive on ice like a winter tire.

Performance Tires

Also known as summer tires, performance tires are designed to optimize handling, traction, cornering, and breaking in dry and wet warm weather.

Winter Tires

When temperatures dip below 7°C, as it does all too often in Alberta, it’s time for winter tires. Winter tires have a special tread pattern and retain their elasticity up to -40°C to improve traction on slush, snow, and ice.

Ford Tire Price Match Promise

The right tires, at the right price, we promise! All tires purchased from Kentwood Ford are backed by Ford’s Tire Price Match Promise. In the event that you come across a lower advertised price for the same tires from one of our competitors, we'll match it!

FAQs

Who makes Ford parts?

Ford genuine parts and Motorcraft make Ford OEM parts.

What is the difference between Ford genuine parts and aftermarket parts?

The main difference between Ford Genuine Parts and Motorcraft is that Ford Genuine Parts exclusively makes OEM parts, while Motorcraft also makes aftermarket parts. Aftermarket parts are not manufactured by Ford; however, they are engineered to be compatible with Ford vehicles.

Is there a Ford parts shortage currently?

Due to current global supply chain challenges still impacting the auto industry, there are a number of Ford vehicles impacted by parts shortages. Our team at Kentwood Ford will work with you to find the right parts for your Ford. Contact our team today!

Will buying aftermarket parts void my Ford vehicle warranty?

Installing aftermarket parts won’t necessarily void your New Vehicle Limited Warranty. If the aftermarket products you install fail, or cause another Ford part to fail, the cost of those repairs would not be covered under your warranty.

It’s important to understand your warranty and any applicable rules regarding replacement or aftermarket parts.

Are aftermarket parts covered by my auto insurance?

This will vary depending on your auto insurance provider and the policy in place. It will also depend on whether these parts were to replace an OEM part or be added as an enhancement to the vehicle.

If you’re planning to customize your vehicle with aftermarket parts, the best option would be to purchase supplemental auto insurance coverage through your provider.

If you need to replace an OEM part and have found a better-priced aftermarket product, it’s best to confirm directly with your insurance provider if it will be covered or not. You will also need to confirm with your New Vehicle Limited Warranty to see if that aftermarket part will impact your warranty.

What does it cost to replace a Ford part?

The costs of Ford parts will vary depending on the part you’re looking to replace, the Ford model you drive, and the incurred labour charges.

For example, for a 2022 Ford Explorer, a disc brake pad set might cost $316.35 just for the parts, while an engine coolant hose will cost $625.98.

How long does Ford take to deliver parts and accessories?

At Kentwood Ford, we carry a wide array of Ford genuine OEM parts and accessories so that you don’t have to wait!

If there’s something that needs to be ordered directly from Ford, as long as they have it in stock, it will typically ship in one to two business days. If a part or accessory is on backorder, Ford will let you know about the delay via email.

How much does it cost to replace a Ford tire?

Replacement costs for a Ford tire will depend on a few factors:

  • The Ford model you drive

  • The trim level of your Ford as it may come with a different tire size

  • The tire brand your vehicle came with

  • The tire type you currently have (ie. all-season, performance, or winter).

How long do Ford factory tires last?

In general, if you drive around 20,000 km per year, your tires will likely last 4 to 5 years, or up to 80,000 km. This will depend on your vehicle maintenance, driving style, and driving conditions.

To extend the life of your tires, here are a few things you can do:

  • Avoid hard cornering, quick acceleration, and sudden braking to prevent excessive wear

  • Have your tires regularly checked for damage and to maintain air pressure

  • Follow maintenance schedules for having your tire alignment checked and your tires rotated.

How often should I replace my tires?

On average, tires will last between 3 to 5 years if you drive between 20,000 to 24,000 km per year. This will depend greatly on the following:

  • How much you drive in a year

  • If you keep up with your regular vehicle maintenance

  • Your driving style and habits

  • The driving conditions.
